Alonzo Homer Kenniebrew 1932 - 2017
MOLINE, IL - Alonzo Homer Kenniebrew, 84, of Moline, Ill., passed peacefully on Jan. 9, 2017, at Rosewood Healthcare Center in Northbrook, Ill.
Alonzo H. Kenniebrew was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Evanston, Ill., to Jessie Mae Schultz Kenniebrew and Dr. Alonzo Homer Kenniebrew. He was a star athlete at Springfield High School and Carthage College.
An Army veteran, Alonzo was involved in medical research and later, nursing home administration and finally insurance with the Aflac Company. He spent most of his career in the Chicago area.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister.
He is survived by his spouse, Bonnie Rose Wainwright Kenniebrew, three daughters, one stepson, eight grandchildren, four great-grandsons, his sister, and a former spouse.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246.

2008 Red Raider reunion
Sincere condolences to Al's family from his 1955 US Army, 1st Cavalry Division, Red Raider football team at Camp Younghans, Yamagata, Japan.

Besides being an outstanding fullback, Al was always a perfect gentleman.

RIP Al from your Army buddies.
