SPRINGFIELD, IL - Andrew S. Stasukinas, 54, of Springfield, passed away at 10:02 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center.
Andrew was born Aug. 9, 1960, in Springfield, the son of Joseph "Jerry" and Frances Hussey Stasukinas.
Andrew was a graduate of Griffin High School. He was employed by his family's business, Springfield Mechanical Corporation, his whole life. He was a member of Local 137 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union and the KC Club at Lake Springfield. Andrew enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, boating, and traveled extensively in the United States. He was proud of his Lithuanian heritage and traveled to Lithuania to his grandparent's homeland and to Europe. He attended the State Fair every year of his life and had a Cozy Dog stand with his big sister and lifelong friend, John Shafer. Andrew was a kind, loving, considerate person, who never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alby and Vera Stasukinas; his maternal grandparents, Raymond Hussey and Emily Ayres; one brother, Jerry Stasukinas, Jr.; and three uncles, Charles and Norm Hussey, and Albert Stasukinas.
He is survived by his parents, Joseph "Jerry" and Frances Hussey Stasukinas; one sister, Sherrie Stasukinas Smith; one nephew, Justin (wife, Crystal) Smith of O'Fallon, Mo.; two nieces, Katie Smith of Fenton, Mo., and Brittany Smith of Springfield, Ill.; special friend, Krystie Wilson, and their beloved pet, Copper; five aunts: Christina (husband, Fred) Burris, Cathy "Crystal" Mullins, Dixie Hussey, Rosalie Beck and Gloria Hussey; two uncles, Ron (wife, Pat) Hussey and John Stasukinas; and numerous cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at St. Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton Ave., Springfield with the Rev. Richard Chiola, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
