Fred Robert Pulley of Sedro-Woolley, WA, passed away on November 17, 2012 at the age of 82.

He was born July 26, 1930 in Twin Bridges, Montana, the son of Frank and Thelma Pulley.

Fred grew up in Madison, Wisconsin then moved to Minnesota to pursue his career in the logging and lumber industry. His employment took him to Oregon, Alaska, North Carolina, and Washington. He worked for Boyd Lumber of Sedro-Woolley and Tonasket, WA. Fred retired in 1992 from Barbee Mill in Renton, WA. He loved the challenge of his job, as mill manager, and was respected and appreciated by all who worked with him.

Fred served one year of active duty in the U.S. Navy in 1947 and then enlisted for 6 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, rock collecting, mining, and bird watching. His love of the outdoors and traveling took him from mining for gold in Nevada to hand feeding the cows and geese on his Alger homestead. Fred loved his family and friends; they came first at all times. All were welcomed heartily into his home for a hot meal, it didn't matter if he had just met you or you were family, his kindness and generosity flowed constantly. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joys of his retirement years. A "grandpa hug" was always followed with a sweet from his pocket that could "give you the giggles for a week". Fred was a big man giving him more room for love; his love for his family was never a mystery.

Fred is survived by his wife, Joan of 42 years, his daughters, Cynthia Pulley, Cheryl Churchill, Roxann (Paul) Churchill and sons, Gregory (Katie) Pulley and Kevin Pulley. He is also survived by three brothers, Tony (Mary), Lou (Shirley), and Terry (Mila) Pulley and three sisters, Bonnie (Jim) Allen, Sue Highland, and Francis Ahkoi, and sister-in-law Patty Pulley. He is survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck Pulley, and son Keith Pulley.
