Surrounded by family and friends, Edward (Ed) Dutton 63, passed away on May 10, 2013 at his home in Marblemount, WA after a courageous battle with Esophageal Cancer.

Ed was born in Moline, Illinois on August 6, 1949. His family moved to Everett, WA when Ed was around 6 years old.

Ed attended Everett schools and graduated from Cascade High School in 1967.

Following graduation, Ed was enlisted in the US Marine Corps from 1967-1973. He served in Vietnam from 67-69, received a Purple Heart, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and many other ribbons and badges. After his stint in the Marine Corps, Ed joined the Army National Guard where he served for approximately eight years.

His lifetime career was a letter carrier for the Everett and Marysville post offices with 34 dedicated years of service.

Ed enjoyed several hobbies, but his passions were fishing and riding a motorcycle. He loved fishing the rivers all over the state, but especially loved fishing on the coast where he and Bobbie eventually purchased a second home sitting between the Queets and Clearwater rivers. Ed also loved his motorcycles and after retiring, Ed and Bobbie traveled to Arizona where he bought his first street bike. He loved being in Arizona where he could ride everyday if he wanted to. He and Bobbie also made several trips to Illinois where he was able to reconnect with his Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He hauled his bike back to Illinois to ride the countryside with his Uncle Bill and cousins.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Pauline and Robert Dutton.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife Bobbie, daughters Stacey Dutton (Josh), Jennifer Pretlow (Nic), Angela Nevin (Tom), and Becky Lundberg; sister Janette Gage (John), nephew Jeremy Sherman (Julie), nieces Stephanie Price (Jared), Cami Stock (Dave), and Heather Guthrie (Ryan); grandchildren: Nelson, Madison, Kaitlyn, Robert, Iris, Tyler, Bailey, and AJ.

Ed also leaves behind many close friends and best friends. He will always be remembered as a kind and generous man who always put others needs before his own and was known to give his fishing buddy the first cast in the favorite fishing hole.

The family would like to thank Hospice NW, Dr. Jafari, the staff from the Skagit Valley Cancer Care Center, and Dr. Whitman for the love and care he received.
