1926 - 2011 Obituary Condolences
Bonnie Jean Fountain, 84, of Anacortes, WA; went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2011 at Home Place Care Center in Burlington, WA. She was born on March 20, 1926 in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Lawrence and Sarah (Creed) Brown. Bonnie moved to Taft, CA with her parents and brother when she was 2 years old.

She received her education in Taft, finishing up in Los Angeles at Susan Miller Dorsey School in 1941.

Bonnie married Gordon Brooks Fountain in Bakersfield, CA on December 31, 1943 and moved to Anacortes, WA in 1945. She was a devoted wife and loving mother.

She was very artistic with a variety of interests such as pen & ink art, watercolors and needlework. Bonnie beautifully designed several holiday bulletin boards for the church foyer and was a member of Anacortes Christian Church for 67 years where she worked as a secretary in the church office early on and also served as a Deaconess for several years.

Bonnie was employed as a cosmetician for 28 years at Thrifty Drugs in Anacortes.

For many years Gordon and Bonnie enjoyed their extended fishing trips in their travel trailer throughout WA and Canada. She also enjoyed duck hunting with Gordon and did very well at trapshooting in the earlier times. They took many trips cross country to visit the grandchildren in TN.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Gordon, in October 2007; and her brother, Allen Brown.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Richard Felser; grandchildren and spouses, Kelli and Corey Hjalseth; Dustin and Angela Lafferty; all of Tacoma, WA; Bonni Lafferty of Woodinville, WA; and great-grandchildren, Corey Jr., Spencer, Kate Hjalseth and Violette and Miles Lafferty. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Terri Fountain; of Collierville, TN; grandchildren, Meredith Koski, Becca, John and Zachery Fountain; and great-grandchild, Jack Koski. Survivors also include sister and brother-in-law, Jennith and Bill Overall; of Priest River, ID.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Bonnie's name to the Alzheimer's Assoc. of Washington.

Bonnie will be greatly missed by her loving family. We are very thankful for the wonderful, tender care extended to her for several years by those special individuals at Home Place Care Center of Burlington, WA and to Hospice NW.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm., Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Anacortes Christian Church, 12ll M Ave, in Anacortes, WA 98221.
