GERALD C. PARKER

1916 - 2011 Obituary Condolences
Gerald C. Parker, a longtime resident of Shelter Bay, passed away on May 6, 2011 in La Conner, just two days shy of his 95th birthday. He was born in England on May 8, 1916 to John Richard and Emma Louisa (Lawrence) Parker.
The family immigrated to Canada when he was a child, and he moved to the United States in 1951 and became an American citizen.

He worked as a meat cutter during the depression, but spent the bulk of his career as a laboratory assistant for the Shell Development Company.

He is survived by his sons, Gary and Donald (Janice) Parker, his grandsons Donald (Julianna) and Robert (Denise) Parker, and his great-grandchildren Lorene, Vanessa, Paige and Scott Parker.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Hugh, Geoff and Wilfred; and his wives Marjorie, Jessie and Elizabeth.

Gerry remained healthy and active until he was hospitalized recently with pneumonia; but, as he desired, he was able to be discharged from the hospital and return to his home at La Conner Retirement Inn before his death. He was a man of many interests and fascinating conversations. His wonderful sense of humor shone through until the very end.

At his request, there will be no services.
