Gerald Roy (Jerry) Peterson, 79, of Burlington, died Saturday, March 9, 2013. He was one of six children born to the late Joseph and Alice Peterson. Gerald was born on April 7, 1933 in Sutton, ND.

Gerald attended school in Burlington. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was a retired Teamster.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 50 years Marlene Peterson. He is also survived by brothers Melvin and Selmer (JoEllen).

He was preceded in death by brothers Myron (Virginia) and Donald and sister Genevieve.

Gerald was a driver for Darigold Inc. and Associated Grocers where he enjoyed the daily interaction with his customers.

Gerald was an active member of the Burlington Eagles Aerie 3242 and the American Legion Post 43. He enjoyed travels with Marlene throughout the West and his daily golf outings with friends.

Gerald is also survived by three children: Patricia Holmberg (John) of Sand Point, AK, Ronald Peterson of Lynnwood, Melody Derrossett (Todd) of Burlington; and step-son Clark "Spooky" Olsen (Michele) of Maple Valley; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Gerald was also preceded in death by step-son Mark "Bernhof" Olsen in 1983.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Burlington Aerie 3242.

A celebration of Gerald's life will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 15, at the Burlington Eagles.
