REVEREND HARRY R. "DICK" BRITTON Obituary
Harry Richard Britton, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Island Hospital in Anacortes, Washington, at the age of 72. He was born on July 26, 1938, in Lebanon, OR, the son of George and Dorothy (Straley) Britton.

Dick and his first wife Penny, owned an airplane dealership and flight school in Houston, TX, where his love for flying was passed down to the students he instructed.

After selling the business, they spent two years aboard a sailboat in the Caribbean with their children, before settling in Anacortes. As an avid sailor and competitive sail racer, Dick utilized his skills running a yacht charter company for 15 years, managing Skyline Marina in Anacortes. He was a member of the Anacortes and Seattle Yacht Clubs.

Dick had a rich and colorful life which sparked many entrepreneur interests. He was very active, cheerful, and optimistic in life.

Dick loved the Lord and was an ordained Deacon in the Anglican Church, involving himself in many religious activities. His faith grew deeper and deeper as the years went by.

Dick lost his wife, Penelope in 2008, and soon became reacquainted with his present wife Brandy in the spring of 2009, and later in the fall, they married.

All who were touched and loved by him, and who loved him in return, will miss him greatly. Dick is now at peace and walking with the Lord.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Penny; and sister, Barbara Gnoss. He is survived by his wife, Brandy of Anacortes; sons and daughter-in-law, Alexander Britton of Spokane, WA, and Benjamin and Krista Britton of Snoqualmie, WA; daughters and son-in-law, Kirsten and Randy Young of Mount Vernon, WA and Bethany Erickson of Anacortes, WA; 10 grandchildren; and brother-in-law, George Gnoss of Belvedere, CA.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Trinity Anglican Church, 1200 Cleveland Avenue, in Mount Vernon, WA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Trinity Anglican Church in Mount Vernon.
