JEFFREY THOSTENSON Obituary

Jeffrey Michael Thostenson, January 10, 1955-February 9, 2012.

Son of Donald and Marilyn Thostenson, brother of Matthew, Nathan, Anthony and Sarah, loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Jeff was a humble but ambitious man whose life's course was directed by his painting. He was blessed with an extraordinary talent and assailed by the demons that sometimes accompany such a gift.

He had an extensive knowledge of art history, read voraciously, loved music, and good food. His humor was monumental - whimsical, sometimes dark, often hard to follow, but always very, very funny. His ups were high and his downs were low. He is, at last, without pain and at peace. His spirit lives in his work and in the memories of his family and friends.

Sending belated condolences to Marylin and family. I have been missing hearing his gentle voice and quiet grace of movement. We struggled together. Goodbye dear friend.

It has been years since Jeff drove out of Myrtle Beach in a caravan of his folks heading to Washington state. This gentle, quiet man driving away was a very sad day that I have kept locked in my heart for all of these years.I see Jeff in my mind as we sit In the twighlight of his apartment listening to records, not saying anything ,just sitting, and being just there.Jeff's golden white bushy mop of hair and a curly cornered smile up amongst his mustache is how I will always remember him.Penny ante poker where we would laugh so hard we'd hold our sides in stitches! What an elegant mind he possessed.
Always my prayers for your eternal rest, and may perpetual shine upon you.
