John Edward Collins, born January 6, 1924 in Marcus Hook, PA, passed peacefully at Tacoma General Hospital on July 31, 2018 at an age of 94. He was a long time resident of Whatcom and Skagit Counties, moving to the Tacoma Lutheran Home in 2015 to be close to family.

John served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy, primarily onboard the USS New Orleans in the Pacific Theater, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, watching baseball and eating ice cream.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Colene in 2003.

He is survived by his nephews Brent Leslie and wife Nanette, Jay Leslie and wife Laurie, his nieces Coleen Hetherington, Mary Kachelmyer and husband Tom, plus many great and grand nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
