LuAnne (Jean) Hargis, 76, of Mount Vernon, Washington passed away peacefully with both of her daughters at her side on April 14, 2018 at her daughter's home in Des Moines, WA.

LuAnne had couagously fought the battle against Duodenal cancer since the diagnosis in July 2017. She was wise beyond her years and beautifully devoted to the Lord, her family and friends.

LuAnne's passion for the arts and adventure was contagious and provided so many with treasured memories.

LuAnne was born February 6, 1942 in Coupeville, Washington at Harpole's Maternity home to Audrey and John Bultman. Youngest of four girls, Dorothy (deceased), Irene Tyhuis (Oak Harbor, WA) and Jackie Bowman (Lynden, WA).

She graduated from Oak Haror High School in 1960 and then proceeded onto Dordt College in Sioux Centre, Iowa. Then she tranisioned to Skagit Success Business College in Mt. Vernon, WA where she met and fell in love with Larry Hargis of Santa Rosa, CA; the love of her life. They married February 8, 1963 at the Christian Reformed Church in Oak Harbor, WA.

Larry and LuAnne celebrated their honey moon, first anniversay, 25th and 50th anniveraries at Harrison Hot Springs Resort which became a favorite and blessed retreat for our family. They made their home in Mt. Vernon, WA where they raised their two daughters, Erin and Cheri.

Although bashful in high school, LuAnne discovered her interest and talent for singing. She began her singing career while working as an admitting clerk at Skagit Valley Hospital to pay for her singing lessons and soon she had students of her own. For over 40 years, LuAnne graced used us with her beautiful voice and spirit in hundreds of musicals, plays, church choirs, weddings and funerals.

After 20 years, LuAnnne retired as a highly respected metso soprano in the Seattle Opera Chorus. To develop and share her gift brought great joy to her life and more meaningful with the loving support and pride felt by her daughters and husband, Larry.

Later, she joined and thoroughly enjoyed the Cantabile of Skagit Valley until 2017. Cantabile's purpose each season is to enhance the community's enjoyment and understanding of choral arts through communicating the beauty of music.

She is survived by her two daughters, Erin Light (Matt) of Des Moines, WA,, Cheri Hargis (Mitch Light) of Seattle; grandchildren, Kai Light, Liliana, "Lili" Light of Seattle and Nicholas, "Nic" Light of Des Moines, WA who love and admire her so deerly. Also by her beloved sisters, Irene Tyhuis (Oak Harbor) and Jackie Bowman (Lynden, WA) and their childeren and many grandchildren and great- grandchildren. LuAnne's kind brother-in-law, Tom, and his wonderful wife, Ernelyne, "Ern", Sacramento, CA and their two sons, Kevin and Tim, their wives, and grandchildren in CA along with in-laws, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren both near and far in the USA.

Together in heaven, she is preceded in death by her husband Larry Hargis, (October 2013), father, John Bultman and her mother, Audrey Bultman (Oak Harbor) as well as many other loved ones.

A "Celebration of LuAnne's Life" will be held at "The Grand Willow", 17926 Dunbar Rd., Mount Vernon on Saturday, July 28th at 2:00 PM.

The family would especially like to thank the staff of Kasier Permanete Oncology Capitol Hill Seattle, WA and Hospice for LuAnne's loving care and support while we needed them the most.
