Rodger Hoverson died peacefully at home in Anacortes on December 15th.
He was born July 13, 1929 in Manville, North Dakota to Rueben and Ethel Hoverson. He was one of three children, all passed on now, Virginia Hoverson Bry and William Dale Hoverson.
In 1942 the family moved from Manville to Sonoma, CA and then to Vallejo, CA where Rodger completed high school and two years of junior college. He found opportunity in auto body work, soon opening his own successful business in Livermore, CA. He was also a member of the Livermore Freemasons and achieved 3rd Degree Master Mason. But, once he saw Puget Sound while visiting a relative he sold everything and bought a house and building in Anacortes.
He and his wife Willene (who passed in 2013) were happy to live out their lives in what they considered paradise. Rodger owned and operated Sound Body Shop from 1968 to 1991, when he sold the building and business to semi-retire.
His kindness was profound, and he was loved by so many town people. And at least as many dogs.
Rodger is survived by two children, Denise Hoverson and Steve Hoverson, and grandchildren Chris Ellis, Rick Ellis, Tara Hoverson, Janelle Belisle and Lindsey Waters. There are two great-grandchildren by Lindsey and Jon.
Rodger had a very full and rich life. He will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him.
There will be no services due to COVID, but a private scattering of ashes will take place.
