1906 - 2011 Obituary Condolences
Rose Mary Erickson, 104, a longtime resident of Skagit County, passed away at Mira Vista Care Center on May 1, 2011.

Rose was born on September 8, 1906, on a farm near Bancroft, Nebraska. She was the 4th child born of Thomas Nels Grenier and Lydia Ann Jenkins Grenier. There were nine children in the family of six girls and three boys.

In 1910 the family moved west to the O'Neil area of Nebraska, where Rose started school at Opportunity, Nebraska.

In 1914 the Grenier family followed the Jenkins family west to Bay View, WA, where they settled on a 36 acre stump ranch.

Rose attended Bay View School with many Jenkins cousins and graduated from Burlington High School in 1926. After High School, Rose worked at the Boseman Cannery, where she met Gilmore Erickson. In 1926 Rose began work at Western Farm Co-Op as an egg candler. She moved to work in the office in 1950.

Rose and Gilmore were married in 1929 and she was widowed in 1953. Rose and Gilmore did not have any children, but Rose had a special relationship with many nieces and nephews.

Rose worked at Western Farmers for 45 years and retired in 1971. After retirement Rose spent 17 years as a volunteer at the Senior Center. She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Vasa Lodge. She was a trustee of the Skagit County Historical Society.

Rose moved to Mira Vista Care Center in 2006.

She was a friend and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for her friends and relatives on Saturday, May 7, 2011, 2:00PM at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2015 E. Blackburn Road, Mount Vernon, WA 98274.

Memorials may be given to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
