Warren Keuffel Obituary

Denver - Warren Parrish Keuffel was born September 15, 1947 in Pasadena, California, to Jack Warren Keuffel and Elizabeth (Betty) Merchant Higgins. He died September 5, 2021 in Denver, Colorado.

Shortly after his birth, the Keuffels moved to Utah where Warren spent the rest of his growing up years. He enjoyed riding around Holladay and Salt Lake City with his friends, especially his best friend Jack Spear, and getting into teenage mischief.

Warren graduated from Rowland Hall, and went on to Study at the University of the Pacific. After taking some gap years to live as a mountain man in Homer, Alaska, he attended Rochester Institute of Technology and earned a BS in Graphic Communications. He also attended the University of Utah. In 1983, he started his own graphics company, Bear Graphics, later Bear Web Ware. He taught himself to code at night on a borrowed computer and transitioned to a career in software development. He worked as a Computer Engineer with Unisys Corp. from 1983-1994 and as a writer for Software Development Magazine from 1983-2006. He was senior contributing editor of the magazine for many years.

Warren married Connie Wiscombe in 1981 - he and Connie had two daughters together. They later divorced. Warren married his love, Lori Lehman, in 2001 and gained a son through that marriage - Todd - whom he adopted. He and Lori shared nearly twenty years of life and adventures together.

After living in Holladay, Utah for 50 years he moved to Anacortes, WA in 2006 to live a life on the water. He and Lori took many boat adventures in their C-Dory - the LoriAnn. Long journeys through the Broughtons to Prince Rupert to Princess Louisa Inlet, several memorable trips to Lake Powell, and even towed the boat to put her in the water in the Florida Everglades to spend 2 months in the Florida Keys after which they explored the Florida Inland Waterway from Apalachicola to Pensacola..

He loved a long road trip, and went on many adventures with his family throughout his life, including an epic 5-week summer road trip to the East Coast, visiting his many friends along the way and a tour around the perimeter of the United States with Lori before they made their way down to Baja for the winter.

Warren had a life-long love of learning and had many hobbies - photography, web design, woodworking, playing board games, cooking, beer brewing, and bread-making. He was an avid reader, and especially liked to read mystery novels and historical biographies. He subscribed to many newspapers and magazines - stacks of which gathered on every available surface left in his wake. He will be greatly missed puttering around his kitchen cooking, or in the garage brewing a new batch of beer.

He enjoyed being a part of many communities, both in person and online. He attended South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society in Salt Lake City for many years. He loved lending out his truck to the LGBT group at SVUUS for the Pride Parade. In Anacortes, he attended the Skagit Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Mt Vernon, He loved talking online and in person with the C-Brats as the DoryMan. He and Lori travelled to Loreto, Baja, Mexico every winter, and he loved the community of fellow snowbird ex-pats he found there from the US and Canada. Recently he began volunteering with the Skagit Valley Democrats, a position that brought a lot of meaning to his life.

Warren is survived by his wife, Lori-Ann Lehman Keuffel, and children Elizabeth, Todd and Victoria. He is preceded in death by his parents - Jack and Betty Keuffel. We will greatly miss his love of life and steady presence.

A Memorial will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Skyline Cabana (6041 Sands Way, Anacortes, WA 98221) at 2:00pm. In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Skagit County Democrats or Adopt a Native Elder.

Warren was a sweet, sweet man and a great boss at Bear Graphics. He was patient, taught us all many useful skills and we shared lots of chortles (how do I know he'd appreciate that word? ). We lost touch but I'm thrilled to read what a full and joyful life he led with his loving family & friends. May you all be blessed with the sweetest of memories. Godspeed, my friend!

My deepest sympathy. Warren and Lori were two of the kindest people I have ever met. He was a wonderful man with a quick whit and a kind heart. He had the best smile and gave the best hugs. My heart is crying a river of tears and he will be greatly missed.
