Carol Barnes, 87, passed away on July 8, 2014. She was born April 11, 1927 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Leo and Martha Lueck.

Carol and her husband Ralph Daluge moved to Anacortes in 1954 where she became involved in Girl Scouts, Garden Club, the Anacortes Eagles Auxiliary and most importantly St. Mary Catholic Church for 34 years where she taught catechism and played the organ. She was also employed at Video Electronics working with her dear friends Bud Awes and Jack Wittman and was involved in the Washington Pilots Association.

Carol and Ralph raised their two daughters, Suzie and Jean at their home on Anacopper Road. Carol also took care of her aging parents and was primary caregiver to them both.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ralph, who died in 1982 and her sister Valeria, Brothers Donald and Bernard and "baby Leo".

She married Lawrence Barnes of Shelton in 1990 and they relocated to Anacortes 16 years ago.

Carol is survived by her husband Larry who resides at Chandler Square, her daughter Suzanne (Suzie) Miles and her companion Bob Bruce of Indiana, and her daughter Jean Houston (Robert) of Anacortes. Also her sister Peggy Suess from Oak Harbor, Ruth McMahon from San Antonio and Denise (Dyer) Bradshaw of Arizona.

She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Melinda Klier of Tennessee, Katie (Klier) Baransky of Arizona and Derek Klier of Anacortes who were all blessed to be together with her 2 weeks before her passing. She was an extreme part of their lives when they moved here in the early 80's and had many special times at Gramma's house watching WWF and Roller Derby and playing cards. Also her loving grandchildren Carrie (Swickard) Stewart and husband John and their children Austin and Lea Stark, and Jeremy Swickard and twin sister Tammy (Swickard) Stewart and husband Mike and their children Sierra Lanning and Michard Jr. all of Indiana as well as numerous nieces and nephews across the country.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Hogge and his nurse Emily of Fidalgo Medical Associates, the staff at Island Hospital for their wonderful care and concern and the amazing caregivers and staff at San Juan Rehab and Care Center where Carol was treated with so much love and kindness these past 7 months.

A private memorial service has taken place and a celebration of life will be in the middle of August when Carol's sisters will all be together.
