LESLIE LOCKREM Obituary

Leslie O. Lockrem, 69, of La Conner, WA passes away August 29, 2011 at home.

He was born April 8, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to Margaret and Clarence O. Lockrem.

He built his log house from the ground up of trees from his property. He built it to be energy efficient with wind power and solar cells. In his younger years he loved motorcycles.

He worked for Dakota Creek Shipyard from November 16, 1977 to the present. He worked in all areas of the shipyard, from repairing equipment to carpentry and cabinet work and electrical. He was a true shipwright and he became an electrical engineer.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Linda; his children, Robert (Cara) Lockrem, Xyan Neider, and Eli (Bri) Neider; his grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Emrick, Alex (Alexa) Lockrem, Haley Lockrem, Clayton Sprouse, Sydney Atchison, Amy Neider and Marley Neider; his great-grandchildren, Hunter and Liam Emrick and Alaina Lockrem. He is also survived by his sisters Bonnie Pluess and Sharon King, and his brother Richard (Florence) Lockrem and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry Lockrem and his sister Marjorie Lockrem-Solberg.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to: The Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, the USO, or Adopt a Platoon.

A potluck celebration of life will be held at the Dakota Creek Shipyard lunchroom on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at 1:00. Following the celebration, his ashes will be spread at the family property.
