At our house we referred to Jean as “Mama Jean”. Jean was our daughters' second mother from when Lily was 1 year until Autumn was 12. Jean gave in perfect proportions love, discipline, exploration, experiences, hugs, love, encouragement, and comfort. And she was a “mom-mentor” to me as I had no family nearby to help me figure out how to raise a child. Jean & I & Lily & Autumn went on picnics together when Jean & I were not working. When I made a turkey soup in a pot that I apparently had not fully rinsed the dish soap from, I called on Jean.”Can I feed it to my family or must I throw it out?” She let me keep it!
When our kids were reaching the age of not needing daycare, Jim asked Jean for a seedling from one of her gorgeous rhododendrons. Of course Jean graciously gave it. For the past 15 years this beautiful shrub has been bringing the Cools beauty & fond memories of a woman who was a central person in our family. We call it the “Mam Jean Rhodie”. I am sorry we cannot be at Jean's Memorial service. Please know that she was loved & cherished by the Cools, and will stay in our memories. We love Jean.

Jean was a wonderful woman and a fun, loving caretaker. I will always remember her with love. I hope her family finds comfort in the knowledge that she had such a strong positive influence over so many people.

Words cannot express my sorrow, and my heart goes out to you all. Jean's spirit made every one of my days better. I will continue to miss her but will find joy in all the memories we created together over the years.
Much Love,
