Donald E. Hunsberger

August 16, 1940 - Sept. 13, 2018

EDWARDSBURG, MI - It is with great sorrow to announce that Donald (Don) Everett Hunsberger of Edwardsburg, Michigan passed away on September 13, 2018 at the age of 78. After 9 months of health issues, he returned home to live out his final days beside his wife and family.

Don had many accomplishments over his life but his greatest was being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His love for his family and their achievements proves that one man can positively influence the thoughts and actions of many. One of Don's other major achievements in life was overcoming his blindness that he dealt with for over 37 years. His favorite past times were reading a good western novel by Louis L'Amour and enjoying college football on Saturdays in the fall.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol Ann (Miller) Hunsberger, along with three children, Martha (Brian) Kiser, Michael (Debra) Hunsberger, and Scott Hunsberger. Don has eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His two brothers and sister survive him -- Richard, George, and Sharon. Preceding his death are his father and mother, George and Martha Hunsberger; and his son, Donald.

Don will be cremated and a memorial is being scheduled for October to allow family members to travel back to Edwardsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Neurosurgery Gift Fund. Checks may be made payable to “University of Michigan” and sent to Michigan Medical Office of Development, 1000 Oakbrook Dr., Suite 100, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104. You may also call 734-764-6777 or visit the website, https://victors.us/donaldehunsberger, to make your gift.

“There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. Yet that will be the beginning.”- Louis L'Amour.

A follow-up notice will be published with details of the memorial gathering.

Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
