COLUMBUS, OH - Lois Ann Rausch, age 87, of Upper Arlington died of natural causes on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Riverside United Methodist Hospital. Mrs. Rausch was born in Columbus on May 11, 1931 to Lucian and Hazel Thrall. She grew up in the Hilltop area and graduated from West High School in 1949. Her favorite childhood memories included occasionally accompanying her father on his job as a sign painter and attending football games at Ohio Stadium. Career highlights include working for Battelle Memorial Institute from 1951-1966 in the Defense Metals Information Center and, later in life for the Niles (MI) Economic Development Foundation. Lois married Dr. Doyle W. Rausch on January 24, 1964 and the couple lived in Chicago, Columbus, and Niles, MI, before returning to Upper Arlington in 1999. Her interests included family, gardening, cooking and entertaining, playing the piano, animals (especially dogs), and Ohio State football. Mrs. Rausch enjoyed volunteering at various hospitals and local boards of election as an annual poll worker. She also helped to coordinate a campaign visit to Southwest Michigan by then Vice President George H. W. Bush in 1986. In recent years, Lois was a loving and committed caregiver to her husband and enjoyed “puppy sitting” for her beloved grandpuppies, Scarlet and Grayson. Mrs. Rausch is survived by her husband, Doyle W. Rausch; two sons and their spouses, Marvin and Jenny Barker of Grove City and Doyle E. Rausch and Jenny James of Clintonville; and two granddaughters, Brandy and Rick McQuay, and Sherry Barker. Lois was a wonderful wife, mother, relative, friend, and neighbor who will be missed and remembered with a big smile by all whose lives she touched. Memorial gifts may be made to Columbus Humane, 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Court, Hilliard, OH 43026. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 6-8pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, July 14, 2018 where family will receive friends from 9-10am. Internment at Green Lawn Cemetery.
