Paul W. Rea Obituary
Paul W. Rea

Jan. 2, 1944 - August 4, 2018

BREMEN, IN - Paul William Rea, 74, of Bremen passed away peacefully Saturday, August 4, 2018 at The Center for Hospice Care in South Bend after battling years of declining heath.

Paul was born January 2, 1944 in South Bend, Indiana, and he graduated from Mishawaka High School (1962). He was a computer programmer for over 30 years, with various roles in banking and data system analysis.

Paul was an adventurer and always up for trying something different. He never hesitated to pack up his family of four, and so the Reas resided in numerous locations, including Indiana, Ohio, American Samoa, New Mexico, and finally Connecticut. Paul and Lori eventually moved back to Indiana in 2009 and built a barn house on family land, where he then retired, having spent over 25 years working for Connecticut On-Line Computer Center (COCC).

Paul will be remembered most for pride in his family and his uncanny sense of humor. While Paul loved to plan strategically and think outside of the box, we cannot tell if his 50,000 Q-Tips he left behind, along with 1,000 blank CD sleeves and boxes of outdated computer supplies was an odd preparation of potential apocalyptic events, or a simple expression of his wit and humor that the family must now resolve.

However, more than his love of computers, ice cream, reading, and VW collecting, his love for his late wife Lori was Paul's legacy. Paul's “bride”, as he always affectionately called her, passed away on April 20, 2018. Her 69th birthday is August 8, and he can now celebrate with her. Paul was an amazing man who loved to think and see things from different angles. He was a fantastic husband to his bride, father to his children, and Pa to his grandchildren. He valued everyone and loved life.

As a family we know that we do not mourn like the rest of mankind because Jesus died and rose again, and Paul is now perfect and whole in the presence of his Savior. Paul (and Lori) attended the Vineyard Church in Mishawaka, IN.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Rea of Torrington, CT; son, Rustin (Kelsi) Rea of South Bend, IN; five grandchildren; sister, Kea Kohlmeyer; and brothers, Patrick Rea and Preston Rea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (Lori) (Vandivier) Rea; his parents, Kenneth and Phyllis (Hixon) Rea; brother, Philip Rea; and sister, Kim Rea.

The family will be hosting a Memorial Service on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Visitation will be from 1 until 4:00pm, followed by a memorial service at 4:00pm.
