MISHAWAKA - Roger C. Senkbeil, 71, of Mishawaka, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Roger was born September 28, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Charles Senkbeil and Irma (Blaise) Senkbeil. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Cheryth Taylor. On August 12, 1989 in South Bend, Roger married Carol Hoover (Nitka) Senkbeil, who survives. Also surviving is a stepson, Todd A. Nitka of South Bend; nephew, Paul (Nancy) Taylor of North Muskegon, MI and their children, Kate and Jack Taylor; niece, Laura (John) Leybourne and their son, Max, of New Castle, CO; and step-niece, Kristine (Pat) Tamlin of LaPorte, IN. Roger graduated from Wabash College, Crawfordsville, IN and graduate school from University of Norther Colorado, Greeley, CO. Roger was active with several local organizations over the years, including South Bend Civic Theater (Past President), the Blair Hills-Hillside Villas Board (Past President), Economic Club of Michiana, NAIFA of Northern IN, and Mishawaka Business Assoc. He loved music and sang in the Glee Club at Wabash College and in the choir at Clay Church. He and Carol loved to travel and took many trips across the country over the years, including Israel and Germany. Roger had been a Financial Advisor for AXA for over 30 years, retiring in 2017. Prior to being in the financial business, he was the Director at Marshall Starke Redevelopment Center in Plymouth, IN. Roger will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him dearly. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 12 noon on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Clay Church, 52866 Ironwood Rd., South Bend, IN 46635. Memorial service will follow at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Brian Durand officiating. Contributions may be made to Clay Church or South Bend Civic Theater, 403 N. Main Street, South Bend, IN 46601. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
