Mary Branella Ciarrocchi, a loving matriarch and devoted sister and friend, died early Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the age of 91, at Stonegates, in Wilmington, Delaware. Born in Coatesville, PA, Chester County, she dedicated her life to her late husband, Charles J. Ciarrocchi, Sr., and devoted her faith-filled energies to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was a proud graduate of Scott High School in Coatesville. She worked as a stenographer at Coatesville Hospital, accompanying doctors on their rounds, eager to learn all she could about medicine. Music became a centerpiece of her life, singing with a regional choral group, where she was eager to use her alto voice to harmonize any melody. When she married Charles J. Ciarrocchi in September, 1950, her life pivoted to Toughkenamon and Kennett Square, where she became an active member of St. Patrick’s Church. Chairing the annual dinner dance fund-raisers, and helping to edit the St. Patrick’s Cook Book used her creativity to generously help the faith community she belonged to for 63 years. She also learned to play golf, because then, she could share in her husband’s greatest passion, outside of his family. Mary leaves her family a legacy of unwaivering faith in God, generosity, humility and love. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ciarrocchi Fineman of Merion Station, PA, her two sons, Charles J. Ciarrocchi, Jr. of Wilmington, DE and James J. Ciarrocchi of Chadds Ford, PA and her twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends starting at 9:30 A.M on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 901 North DuPont Street, Wilmington, DE, with a Funeral Mass celebrated at Noon. Entombment will be private at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, the Ciarrocchi family requests donations to the Ministry of Caring, Wilmington, DE. There is more information at the Ministry of Caring website, www.ministryofcaring.org. Arrangements are being coordinated by the Kuzo Funeral Home, of Kennett Square, PA. your mom opened her home, literally, to the Oblates when we moved out of Salesianum for a year. One Christmas Eve, a few months after my mom died, at the Mass with all the children at St. Pats, I started crying at the part of the Eucharistic Prayer where you mention the memorial for all deceased. All these little kids wondering why the priest is crying. When your mom came up to help with communion, she touched me as if to say "it's ok and your mom is always with you." I'll never forget that tenderness. Her faith, love and generosity are evident in the lives of Patty, Chuck and Jamie. Please know the Oblates have you all in prayer. Conflicts prevent me from being at her Mass, but I will offer Mass at the Cathedral in Camden for your mom. Prayer and blessings to you and her great legacy of grandchildren. "let God gather to himself whatever he has planted for he takes nothing out of season." St. francis de Sales (Forgive me if there are multiple memories from me as I tried this three times.)

A wonderful lady! Mary literally opened her home to the Oblates for the year we moved out of Salesianum. I will never forget her comforting me when I unexpectedly broke down at the part where you remember the dead on Christmas Eve as it was my first without my mother. I was surrounded by little kids and crying. When Mary came up to help with communion she touched me as if to say "it's ok." A true mother: sensitive and caring. You see her faith, love and goodness in Patty, Chuck and Jamie. Conflicts at the parish prevent me from attending the funeral but I will offer Mass for mom at the Cathedral here in Camden. The Oblates are praying for you all. Blessed to have been in her company a few times. "Let God gather to Himself whatever He has planted for He takes nothing out of season." ~St. Francis de Sales

Great woman! Opened her house, literally, to the Oblates when we moved out of Salesianum for a year. She comforted me on Christmas Eve when I broke down at the Children's Mass the year my mother died. A true mom: incredibly sensitive with a gorgeous smile. Her children are a testament to her faith and love. Patty, Chuck and Jamie you are in the Oblates' prayers. Conflicts prevent me from being there on Saturday but we will offer Mass for your mom at the Cathedral here in Camden. Fortunate to have been in her company a few times at St. Pat's.

Even though we never had the privilege to meet Mary, it is obvious from the obituary that she was a remarkable woman. She definitely left her mark on many. Our thoughts & prayers are with the family.
