Benjamin Frederick

BORDERLAND, W.Va. — Benjamin Michael Frederick, 73, of Borderland, passed away Fri., July 4, 2014, at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky.

Born Jan. 22, 1941, in Millville, N.J., he was a son of the late George and Dorothy Frederick. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, George Frederick Jr. and a sister, Ann Burkhart.

Ben was a retired mine electrician. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the Logan Chapter of the Marine Corps League of West Virginia.

Ben's hobbies included woodworking and glass etching. His most enjoyable pastime was camping and traveling in his RV.

He also enjoyed studying the bible and was a member of Grace Baptist Temple.

Ben will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered always.

Survivors include his wife, Glenna Justice Frederick; four sons, George Spieker of Huntington, John Eric (Beth) Spieker of Euclid, Ohio, Benjamin (Kathryn) Frederick Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Dean (Janet) Frederick of Brownsville, Tenn.; three daughters, Robin (Donald) Santenee of Vineland, N.J., Dawn Frederick of Sacramento, Calif.; Dorothy (Luke) Root of Estell Manor and N.J.; brother, David (India) Frederick of Lawrenceville, Ga.; sister, Donna Wilson of Tacoma, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a cousin, Reva Gail Maynard of Dans Branch and a very dear friend, Teresa Hensley of Williamson.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Mon., July 7, at Weaver Mortuary. The Reverend Ron Sanger will officiate. Interment is in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher with Military Graveside Rites presented by the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 141, of Belfry, Ky.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made to the Leonard Lawson Cancer Center, 172 S. Mayo Trail, Pikeville, KY 41501.
