Thomas Glasgow Obituary
Thomas A. Glasgow, age 91, long term resident of Medford Lakes, NJ passed away on March 5, 2018 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital Pittsburgh, PA. In his final days he was attended by immediate family members, his wife of 60 years, Doris Glasgow, and his eldest son, Thomas W. Glasgow, daughter-in-law, Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow and his youngest son, Sean W. Glasgow. Thomas and his wife Doris have resided in Pittsburgh for the last 4 years with son Tom and his wife Mary Ellen. Son Sean and his wife Maria Osherova reside in London, England. Also survived my many loving nieces and nephews. Born 1926 in Philadelphia, he was the son of William and Josephine Glasgow. Thomas Anderson had spent a long career in the service of his nation in WWII, Korea and the Vietnam conflicts and then as an Educator. His 21-year naval career started in 1943 seeing action in the Pacific Theatre and continued his career from there in Electronics and as a Naval Aviator. He met and married his wife Doris in 1957 at the height of the Cold War when flying Anti-Submarine Warfare Operations stationed at Quonset Point, Rhode Island. He continued in Naval Air Service including training pilots at Pensacola Naval Air Station and Carrier operations until his retirement as a Lieutenant Commander in 1964. Mr. Glasgow was honored by the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum for his exemplary service. Upon retirement from the service, he earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Rutgers University thus launching a second career in Education both at the Vocational level and within the Defense Sector. Within his wider and local community, he was a Freemason and a dedicated member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Medford, NJ, where he was a lay minister. Services will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 1 Hartford Rd., Medford, NJ 08055, 609-654-2963 on Saturday April 21, 2018 with visitation from 10 A.M. until a Memorial service at 11 A.M. Arr.
