Martha M. McPherson

Brockton Martha Marie (Tabb) McPherson, 77, of Brockton, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. She was the former wife of Walter McPherson Sr. Born February 22, 1931, in Norfolk, Va., she was a daughter of the late Charlie Tabb and Lottie Ragland. Martha had been a Brockton resident since 1967. Martha was a social worker and a Licensed Practical Nurse for several years. She was very active in Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Brockton where she served as a Pastors Aid and helped in the soup kitchen. She is survived by her children, Darlene McPherson, Cynthia Muhammad, Laurell Johnson, Walter McPherson Jr., Marthell Chance, Aquilla Crosby, Shavell McPherson Rayburn and Rodney McPherson; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; she is also survived by several nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. She was the mother of the late Styrone McPherson. Funeral service will be held in Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 24 Pleasant St., Brockton, Friday, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Steven Neville will officiate. Interment will follow at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
