James McGeoghegan Obituary

James Patrick McGeoghegan, 56, died unexpectedly Oct. 2, 2011, in Alameda, Calif. He was born Aug. 23, 1955, in Boston, the son of Charles and Laura (Evans) McGeoghegan. He was a member of the American Martine Officer Union and at the time of his death was employed with Pacific Gulf Marine on the Gem State in Alameda California. To say Jim loved the sea would be an understatement. He made his career working aboard ships upgrading his license over the years to first engineer. Jim made his home in Corinna Maine and is survived by his wife, Judi; two sons, Adam and Melissa of Wisscasset, Maine, and Sean of Kingston, Mass.; one daughter, Hope Woodard of Pittsfield, Maine; four granddaughters, Abigail, Desiree, Jada and Nicole; and one grandson, Darius. Jim also is survived by his mother, Laura (Evans) McGeoghegan of Brockton, Mass., and Prince Edward Island, Canada; six brothers, Michael and Mary of Prince Edward Island, Canada, Charles and Debby of Rockland, Mass., Frank and Cheryl of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Leo and Eileen of St. Ann, Mo., Philip and Kim of Carmel, Maine, and Anthony and Tracy of Prince Edward Island, Canada; five sisters, Margaret and Bill of Brockton, Jean of Middleboro, Mass., Philomena of Framingham, Mass., Mary and Donny of Alexandria, Ga., and Myra and David of Rockland; as well as many niece and nephews. His father, Charles McGeoghegan, predeceased Jim in June of 2007. The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Youd officiating. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
