Remembering my friend Tommie Jane-----
In August of 2009,
I met my neighbor, two streets over;
Her name was Tommie Jane;
She called me up to clean her house
And that's when my life began to change;
She treated me like kin; she was kind and generous with her time;
Her life was so different from mine;
I met her two sons, Geoffrey and Nick;
And like she, they are just as kind.
I met her Aunt Magdeline and I learned of all her cousins, her beloved mother, her sister Regina, her husband George and her good friends Joanie and Suzie;
he walked me right down memory lane.
And it was the best walk I've ever had in my life
I loved to listen to Tommie Jane talk;
Boy! Could she tell a story!
And she was one smart cookie!
She was beautiful, classy and cultured
and older than me;
But age is never a matter you see...
It's how you talk to a person that counts..
It's the time you take to be with them
that makes a person feel loved...
And this was Tommie Jane's gift from God,
One on one; one by one...
She touched every soul she knew..
And I know she is now with the good folks in heaven..
And that when she passed, God spoke these words..
'Welcome Tommie-Jane into my kingdom'
You've done a good job; well done!

Missing you more than you will ever know..until we meet in heaven, your friend Jane!
