Rita M. (Sanborn) Martinson Obituary
Rita M. (Sanborn) Martinson, age 79, of Abington, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 8, 2018, in the comfort of her loving family. Rita was born in Dorchester, to the late Raymond P. and Mary C. (Stahley) Sanborn. She was raised in Quincy and was a graduate of the former Saint Johns Elementary School and Archbishop Williams High School, Class of 1956. She had lived in Abington for sixteen years and previously in Quincy for sixty-two years. She was employed as an administrator in the medical industry for the former Albright Associates of Boston. She had forty years of service and retired in 2014. Rita enjoyed the ocean and the beach but most of all, she was dedicated to her family and especially to her cherished grandchildren. She actively supported all their many activities and accomplishments. Beloved wife of the late William D. Martinson. Devoted mother of Karen I. Marcel and her husband Jeffrey of Abington and William D. Martinson of Braintree. Loving grandmother of Shawn R. Martinson, Aaron J. Marcel, Rhys T. Marcel, Avery C. Marcel and Ryan M. Martinson. One of six siblings, she was the dear sister of Irene C. Young of Milton and predeceased by Raymond Sanborn, Mary V. Casper, Grace E. Costa and Thomas E. Sanborn. Rita is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Sweeny Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Saturday, September 15, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy, at 10 oclock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Friday 5-8 p.m. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Over the years, Rita had donated and supported many different charitable organizations and has requested that for those who wish, donations in her memory may be made to the .
