John McDowell Obituary
BOILING SPRINGS, SC- John Dean 'Dee' McDowell, Jr., 75, of Boiling Springs, SC, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, Spartanburg, SC. Born August 24, 1941, in Richmond, Virginia, he was the son of the late John Dean McDowell, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth 'Beth' Burnett McDowell.
A U. S. Navy 1960-1964 and U. S. Navy Reserves 1969-1971 veteran, John was retired from Sealed Air (Cryovac). He was a 1959 graduate of Spartanburg High School and also attended Gardner Webb University and San Diego City College. He enjoyed working on old cars and walking his dog, Ginger.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Faith Rogers McDowell; children, Jeffrey S. McDowell (fiancé, Sharon) of Greenville, SC and David W. McDowell of Spartanburg, SC; sister, Mary Beth Cribbe (Terry) of Anderson, SC; brother, Ron McDowell of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Ethan C. McDowell and Kevin B. McDowell, both of New York, NY, and John R. 'Jack' McDowell of Old Saybrook, CT.
Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316, with services following at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Jack Dodds. Burial
will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
Memorials may be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
