The Drakeford family is sad to announce the passing of Charles Bernard Drakeford Sr. of Deland, Florida who has departed for the heavenly abode on Sunday August 5, 2018. He passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes at the age of 86 yrs. old.
He was a veteran of the Korean war and a member of Community Baptist Church in Englewood, NJ, where he was raised and spent most of his adult life. He was the son of the late James Drakeford Sr. and the late Georgia Jordan Drakeford. He was the widower of Sherlena Anne Luciano Drakeford.
He is preceded in death by his brothers James Drakeford Jr., Erving Drakeford, Fred Drakeford and Donald Drakeford. Surviving are Charles and Helen Drakeford Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, Valeria and Cisco Florimon of Deland, Florida, Kevin Drakeford of Jacksonville, Florida and Lisa and Rafael Thomas Of Englewood New Jersey.
In addition to his children and their spouses are his grandchildren, Donald and Janice Grady of Leesville, Louisiana, Roderick Grady of Lawton, Oklahoma and Gentry N. Grady of Spartanburg, SC. He also leaves behind a host of great grandchildren, other family members and friends.
He was a kind-hearted spirit, a loving husband and a dutiful father who never neglected his family and always provided for them. He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
We are organizing a small private service for him on August 14, 2018, to be held at Allen Summerhill Funeral Home, Deland, Florida. We appreciate your prayers and ask that you join us at least in spirit in blessing his soul.
