James Howard Berline

James Howard Berline SPARTANBURG, SC-- James Howard Berline, 89, of 1140 Woodburn Road, formerly of Niles, OH, died on Monday, May 28, 2007, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born on October 7, 1917, in Niles, OH, he was the son of the late Charles and Leala Berline and the husband of the late Eloise Smith Berline. He attended Penn State University, was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Banking, and the retired President of Niles Bank Company. He was of the Presbyterian faith and was a very active volunteer for many years with community and civic clubs in the Niles, OH, area. He was a decorated 1st Lieutenant Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include two sons, James H. Berline, Jr. of West Bloomfield, MI, and Jeffrie B. Berline and his wife Ann of Spartanburg; and five grandchildren, Jess Berline of New York City, NY, Erin Berline and Quincy Berline, both of Birmingham, MI, Jeffrie Berline of Auburn, AL, and Clayton Berline of Spartanburg. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. J. Lawrence Bates.
