Elizabeth Ashby Bentley, 85, of Taylorsville, died on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Baptist Health Louisville. Born in Spencer County on May 29, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Robert Francis and Annie Elizabeth Snider Bentley, and the widow of Willie Leon Bentley.

She was a member of the Spencer Christian Church, and also attended the Taylorsville Community Church and the Plum Creek Baptist Church. A farmer and homemaker, she formerly served as a director of the Spencer County Farm Bureau, and as a 4-H leader. Good conversation and spending time with family were her favorite pastimes and she will always be remembered for the loving home and care she gave to her cats.

A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, her survivors include her daughter, Deborah Goodlett of Mount Eden; sons, Mitchell Bentley and his wife, Susie, of Taylorsville, Curtis Bentley and his wife, Kathy, of Savannah, Georgia, and Wendell Bentley and his wife, Debbie, also of Taylorsville; grandsons, Jeffrey Goodlett of Taylorsville and Conrad Goodlett and his wife, Terri, of Louisville; sisters, Roberta Cheatham, Lydia Davies, Barbara Bridwell, and Dorothy Rodgers, all of Louisville; and two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Addison.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, February 22, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville, with Reverend Chad Goodlett officiating. Interment was in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington. Visitation was from 1 p.m., until 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville, and expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Friends of the Spencer County Animal Shelter, 5830 Mill Road, Mount Eden, Kentucky 40046.
