John Mitchell Nethery, 54, of Taylorsville, died on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Norton Women's and Children's Hospital. Born in Shelbyville, he was the son of Mary Jordan Nethery and the late John William Nethery, Jr. He was a member of Elk Creek Baptist Church and also attended Redemption Hill Baptist Church. A respiratory therapist, he served patients at Jewish Hospital Southwest, Jewish Hospital Shelbyville and Norton Children's Hospital. A gun enthusiast, he also enjoyed repairing guns, fishing and hunting.

His survivors include his wife, Brenda Williams Nethery of Taylorsville; sons, John Brennan Nethery and his wife, Sarah, of Louisville, and Jamison William Nethery of Taylorsville; mother, Mary Jordan Nethery of Wilsonville; sisters, Elaine Nethery Gaddie of Mount Washington, and Suzanne Nethery Becker of Taylorsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville, with Reverend Justin Compton officiating. Interment was in the Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville. Visitation was from 2 p.m., until 8 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville
