Wendell Bruce Nation, 77, of Taylorsville, formerly of Shelby County, died on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Signature Health Care of Spencer County. Born in Spencer County, he was the son of the late Arthur Nation, Sr., and Dollie Dimple Jewell Nation. A member of the Graefenburg Christian Church, he was a former member of the Briar Ridge Christian Church. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard. A farmer, he also formerly drove school buses for the Spencer, Franklin, and Henry County public schools. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy.

His survivors include his daughters, Susan Gail Hayden and her husband, Billy, of North Salem, Indiana, and Sheri Lee McGaughey, and Jennifer Jo Waldridge, both of Mount Washington; son, Wendell Brent Nation and his wife, Chrissy, of Taylorsville; brother, Randall A. Nation and his wife, Rose, of Taylorsville; sister, Karen Lawson and her husband, Larry, of Louisville; first wife and mother of his children, Ruth Ann Peavler, also of Mount Washington; step-children, Todd Tindall, Lori Mason, Eric Burge, Brad Burge, and their families; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville, with Reverend Randy Nation and Reverend Mavis Bennett officiating. Interment was in the Bagdad Cemetery in Bagdad.

Visitation was from 3 p.m., until 8 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville.
