Barbara BEETHAM Obituary

BEETHAM,
Barbara Ann
(Jenne)
(Age 82)
December 5, 1929 -
October 10, 2012

Barbara was the third of six children of Carl and Iva Jenne, was born in Carnation, WA, and grew up in Duvall and Silverdale, WA where her father was the superintendent of schools. She attended Olympic College and married Alvin Beetham in 1951 and moved to Spokane a few years later where she has remained for more than 55 years. Her interests included family, gardening, politics, the Mariners, music and her 44 year membership in the LDS Church, where she usually served as church organist. Family was very important to Barbara. She regularly traveled great distances to be present for special family events and she tenderly cared for her aging parents for a decade before their deaths. She is survived by brothers, David, Roy and Ned Jenne; sister Linda Peterson; daughter Camilla Arter-Brown; son Damon Alvin Beetham; grandchildren Matt, Seth and Joel Arter, and grandchildren, Ryan, Jason and Marissa Beetham; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister Ellen Swanberg and gentle granddaughter Leah Arter.
Services will be held at the LDS Bowdish Chapel, at 4014 S. Bowdish Rd., Spokane Valley at 10:00 a.m.on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.

Barbara has been a dear friend of mine for 40 plus years. She was a woman of strong faith who handled her many life adversities with great strength. She fought bravely through her cancer without letting it control her life. Barbara is an amazing, talented woman who was a great example of perservance and endurance to the end! Deepest sympathy to her family, Carole W. Hankal

Barbara was always kind and gentle to me and to others. Many years ago she was a great help to me as a struggling new choir director at our church. She helped me pick out music that was suitable for me to direct and for our choir. I have never forgotten the generous compassion that she showed. She was always a delight to be around. My life has been blessed for having known her.
