Bertha - known as "Grandma Bea" was born June 5, 1913 in Pullman, WA to Lauren and Amy Brown. The family moved to Rockford in 1922. Bea worked for Geo B. Hund Co. and then Farmer's Merchant Bank (now Banner Bank) for 30 years. She enjoyed her flower garden and loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed all sports, attending many ball games of the grandkids and great-grandkids. Bea and Leslie were married for 49 years when he passed away in 1979. In 1982 she married Don Marlow, also deceased. She is survived by her daughter: Francene Groat of Rockford, WA; daughter-in-law: Louise Slinkard, Valleyford, WA; grandchildren: Kevin (Nikki), Doug and Dan Groat all of Spokane WA, Kay (Dan) Salas of California, Tammy (Nick) Pappas of Wisconsin, Monte (Leslie) Slinkard of Post Falls, ID, Gary (Billie) Primmer and Linda (Don) Kennedy of Oregon; great-grandchildren: Shawn and Hannah Slinkard, Michele and Andy Salas, Cheyenne and Sara Groat, Travis Armstrong and Josh White; brothers: Lauren (Grace) Brown of Spokane, WA, Wes Brown of Rockford, WA; and sister: Joyce Mertes of Moses Lake, WA; many nephews, nieces and cousins. Preceded in death by her son, Leroy Slinkard in 2011, siblings Glen and Wayne Brown and Maurine (Erwin) Bliesner. A special thanks to the Sullivan Park Care Center 200 wing. A memorial service will be held at a later date. SCHANZENBACH FUNERAL HOME, FAIRFIELD, WA in charge of arrangements.
