Passed away Friday, February 25, 2011 in Spokane Valley, WA. Ernest was born on June 16, 1919 in Spokane, WA the youngest of five children.
He graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1938 and started to work for Brown Industries in 1940. He worked to produce the nation's first all aluminum truck trailer and in 1942 he worked to start producing parts for aircraft for the military and trailers for the US Army. Ernest was the foreman of the press brakes that made the parts for the assemblers. He worked for Aero Liner from 1945 until it closed in 1970. Later Ernest worked for School District 81 and the City of Spokane retiring in 1982 from Artistic Iron. In 1950 he married Vera DeCaro and they enjoyed 54 years together until her passing. Ernest is survived by sons Louis of Brier WA and Al (Kathy) Castino of San Mateo CA; daughter Mary (Connie) Neeley of Goodyear AZ; grandchildren Tracy Stricker and Tony Castino; and great grandson Dylan Stricker. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home 2203 N. Division. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 3, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church 2120 E. First Ave. Donations may be made to Morningstar Boys Ranch P.O.
