Gene Lewis
(Age 90)

Gene Lewis Williams, of Spokane, WA passed away peacefully at his home on December 4th, 2017. Gene was born to Henry and Elizabeth Williams on January 13th 1927 in Spokane, WA.
Gene graduated from Lewis and Clark High School early to enlist in the Navy. He was a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class serving in Chelsea, MA during WWII. On his return from the war he attended WSU and then Central Washington University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business and met the love of his life, Joanne Wagner. They were married in Spokane on December 27, 1952 where they raised their three children.
Gene worked as an office manager for Star Machinery for his entire career.
Gene and Jo were actively involved with the Spokane Garden Club participating in many flower shows. The highlight being the Christmas Floral Extravaganza at The Davenport Hotel. Gene was one of the founders of the Lilac City Figure Skating Club, helping build Eagles Ice Arena, and he served as a figure skating judge for the United States Figure Skating Association for 40 years. He has continued many friendships from the skating community.
In May of 1993, he lost his wife. Gene stayed in the work force well into his 70s. Gene loved to travel. He took many cruises and trips, his favorite being to Australia. His most recent trip was the Inland Northwest Honor Flight with his daughter.
Gene is survived by his brother Lloyd Williams; daughter Leslie (Stan); son Brian (Mary Jane), son Kevin (Becky); grandchildren Justin, Jeremy, Jacob, Jessica, Sean, Kristian, Chellsea, Alex, Casey; great-granddaughters Jayden, Jarah, Kya, Peyton; three nephews Darrell, Todd, and David. Also, his dear friends Sarah Keller, Jim Neely, and lifelong neighbors the Mercer family.
There will be a Celebration of Life on December 16th, 2017 at Twigs North, 401 E. Farwell Rd. Spokane, WA from 12:30 pm-3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations for skating scholarships may be sent to the Lilac City Figure Skating Club, Eagles Ice-A-Rena 6321 N. Addison St. Spokane, WA 99208.
