ETTER, Larraine Katharine (Age 50) Larraine Katharine Etter, 50, Spokane, WA, passed away Saturday, December 15th, 2018 in Spokane. She was born November 25, 1968 in Spokane to R. Max Etter, Jr. and Susan (Lantry) Etter. She was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, Washington State University (B.A., Criminal Justice) and multiple law enforcement training programs. Currently she was employed by the State of Washington, Department of Social and Health Services, Child Protective Services. Her past employment included Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections, (Nampa, ID), State of Oregon Probation and Parole (Eugene, OR), Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office (Salt Lake City, UT), and Summit County Sheriff's Office (Park City, UT). While serving in Summit County she received a Lifesaving Commendation "Awarded for an act performed in the line of duty, which through disregard of personal safety or prompt and alert action, results in saving a life." Larraine was active in sports, playing basketball, softball and soccer in high school. She earned All-City honors as a goalkeeper two years. At WSU, she earned a letter in Varsity Women's Rugby. She continued her interest in all sports after college. She also maintained a great love for animals, especially dogs, had a keen interest in current affairs and was not afraid to express her opinion supported by facts. Larraine was a voracious and extensive reader. She is survived by her life partner Tammy Halvorson; her parents Max and Sue Etter of Spokane; her mother and father-in-law Ron and Carol Halvorson of Great falls, MT; her four dogs and two cats; her sister Stephanie K. Etter and wife Rosi Day of Spokane, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents R. Max Etter, Sr. and Mariane L. Etter, and Thomas R. Lantry and Gladyce L. Lantry. A Celebration of Life will be held January 12, 2019 at Heritage Funeral Home, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA at 1:00pm. A reception will be held at Mukugawa Fort Wright institute, Takaoka Hall, 4320 W. Owens Bridge Rd. Memorial donations may be made to SCRAPS, 6815 E. Trent Ave., Spokane Valley, WA 99212.
