Dr. Lynne M.

Passed away peacefully on January 8th in Boise, Idaho, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Lynne was born August 27th, 1941 in Walla Walla, Washington, to Pat Duffy and Frank Castoldi. Lynne and her family moved to Oakland, California where she met and married the love of her Life, Dr. John Bownds. Together they had three children, Jennie, Layne and Gabe. Lynne and her family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1969. While living in Tucson, she received her nursing degree and worked for the University of Arizona's Student Health Center. Lynne then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee and worked as a nurse practitioner for Planned Parenthood. Lynne continued her education at The University of Tennessee and received her Bachelors, Masters and a PHD in healthcare economics. In September 1999 she accepted a position at Eastern Washington University in Spokane, Washington, as an economics professor. Upon arriving in Spokane, she also took up running which became one of her greatest passions. Lynne joined the Bloomsday Roadrunner running club and forged lifelong friendships with this group, as well as the colleagues she met at EWU. Lynne loved life passionately and was a gentle soul. Lynne is survived by her three children and her brother, Steve Castoldi. Lynne is preceded in death by her father, Frank Castoldi, her mother, Pat Duffy, and her soul mate and husband for 31 years, John Bownds. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Luke's Hospice, 190 E. Bannock, Boise, Idaho 83712 in memory of Dr. Lynne Bownds. Words cannot express how much Lynne will be truly missed by all who knew her, and were lucky enough to have her in their lives.
We will never forget you Lynne, we love you! Arrangements in Boise are under the direction of SUMMERS FUNERAL HOME.
