Merle Lorraine

Merle Lorraine LePouce of Spokane passed away on February 25, 2011 at her home. She was 101. She was born September 14, 1909 in Post Falls, Idaho. She married former Wash- ington Governor Clarence D. Martin of Cheney and later married Sylvan "Ted" LePouce of Spokane. She attended Lewis and Clark High School and Kinman College. After retiring from a secretarial career, she enjoyed traveling and remaining active in community betterment projects. She also lived for brief periods of time in California and New York, always returning to her home of Spokane. Mrs. LePouce supported many charitable and community organizations including the Spokane Humane Society, the Shriner's Hospital for Children, the Spokane Symphony Orchestra, the Spokane Civic Theater and Whitworth College Scholarship Fund. She is survived by stepdaughter, Jane Daniels, of Borrego Springs, CA; stepgrandchildren Sharon Paulsell and husband, Steve of Columbia, MO; Robert Keller and wife, Whitney, of Columbia, MO and Christine Bergman and husband, Joe of Spokane. She is also survived by stepgreat-grandchildren: SSGT Scott Curry, U.S. Army, Ashley Cooper and husband, Rob, of Columbia MO and Christian, Tory and Emily Bergman of Spokane. She is also survived by second cousin, Barbara Harder and her children, Colleen and Jack Tregallis, Vicki, James, Martin and Randy Wright and sister-in-law, Doris Graham all of Spokane. In addition to husbands, Clarence Martin and Ted LePouce, Mrs. LePouce was preceded in death by stepdaughter Kay Wanless of Spokane. A memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Whitworth University (a scholarship fund to be established in her name).
