Marvin, II
(Age 81)

Passed away in Spokane, Washington on February 12, 2011. Born in Hutchinson, Kansas to Richard Marvin Gere I and Mae Hollinger. He entered the military in 1948 serving in the Army until 1968, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was also a member of the 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles. Richard served three tours in Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. After retiring from the Army he worked in Sales for the Prudential Insurance Company. He enjoyed talking with people and sharing stories. Richard was very active, walking, hiking and traveling the world. He enjoyed visiting family and loved being with his many children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his story telling and big heart. Surviving children include: Kathy Gere-Herzog, Lily Richardson, Linda Gere, Richard Marvin Gere III, Sandy Zimmerman, Jimmy Gere, Sharon Richey, Richard Michael Gere, Tina Gere, and Scott Gere. He was also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the Washington State Veterans' Cemetery at 1:30, Friday, February 18, 2011 in Medical Lake, Washington.
