COLLING,
Shirley Jean
(Comstock)
(Age 84)

Shirley was born Septem-ber 21, 1926 in Spokane, Washington to Eugene and Jennie Comstock. She passed away peacefully in Spokane on May 30, 2011 with family members by her side. Shirley graduated from North Central High School in 1944, where she was a member of the Tredecim high school social club, and a member of the North Side Legion Junior Auxiliary. At age sixteen, she represented North Central High School as its Lilac Princess. Following high school, Shirley worked at the telephone company, The Crescent, and her father's meat market at the corner of Main and Post Street. She met and married the love of her life, Kenneth J. Colling in 1946. Married 46 years, they shared a wonderful life together, devoting themselves to their large family of six children, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Shirley enjoyed her beautiful family home where she hosted many events, gardening and cooking. She delighted in spending time with her family and friends. A sweet, generous and caring woman, Shirley will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Shirley is survived by her six children: Ric Colling, Kenmore, WA, Jennifer (Gary) Tuttle, Spokane, Cathie (Roger) Anderson, Deer Park, Chris (Don) O'Neill, Atlanta, GA, Cheryl (Gary) Connor, Spokane, and Kerry (Jim) Tiffany, Spokane. Shirley is also survived by her ten grandchildren, including: Ken (Stacy) Tuttle, Kim Tuttle, Adrian (Josh) Meryman, Erin O'Neill, Melissa (Steve) Muller, Adam (Anna) O'Neill, Kelly Connor, Caitlin Connor, Sarah Tiffany and Grace Tiffany; and four great-grandchildren, Hailey Tuttle, Brandon Tuttle, Koen Meryman and Piper Meryman along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth J. Colling, in 1992; her beloved sister, Dorothy Wieber just 76 days ago, and her brother, Gordon Comstock.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Shirley will be held at 9:30 AM, Friday, June 3 at Heritage Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
