GARRETT, Cynthia R. (Age 59) Of Pullman, passed away Tuesday, September 9th, with her best friend and loving husband Bob, by her side. She had fought a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 12th at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott with burial to follow in the Endicott Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Cynthia was born in Colfax on April 12, 1955, the oldest of three girls born to Raymond and Beverly Detert Morasch. She grew up in Endicott. Her sisters share fond memories of a warm and loving home and many family trips to Montana. As the oldest of "The Morasch Girls" Cynthia made sure to clear the path for her sisters growing up as she never lacked in her social skills. She was a fun and outgoing student who liked basketball and swimming. She graduated from Endicott High in 1973. Her father insisted on an education before marriage so Cynthia dutifully enrolled in the shortest secretarial program she could find. After a few months she completed her medical secretary program in Spokane and returned to Endicott. She promptly married the love of her life, Robert Allen Garrett, an Endicott farmer, on May 3, 1974. They made their home in Endicott and farmed together for many years. Cynthia was a great cook and would often make harvest meals or lunches to be taken to the field during harvest. She worked in the Endicott School some and was coach of the Endicott Swim Team for many years. She also taught swim lessons to countless numbers of kids at the large pool in their back yard. Cynthia and Bob were blessed with the birth of each of their girls; Shannon in 1976 and Staci in 1977. Their life was filled with lots of activities; Cynthia always at the center. She relished in her role as stay-at-home mom. She did calligraphy, quilting, cake decorating, wheat weaving, followed all the kids sports activities and more. She always made a special panda bear cake for anyone in the family turning one year old and many nieces and nephews will treasure quilts she made them. Family trips to Bluewood for skiing were always full of fun. Cynthia began working at the KCLX radio station in Colfax for a few years and then in 1996 she bought Damery's Flowers on Main Street in Colfax. She has operated Flowers and More in that shop ever since. She and Bob expanded their business in 2003 with the purchase of The Wild Ivy in Pullman. Cynthia had "the gift of gab" and she truly was a hit in each of her stores; almost more than the merchandise was. Cynthia was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott having been baptized, confirmed and married in that church. She also served on the Whitman Hospital Foundation Board for many years, was coordinator for the Pullman Junior Miss program for several years and she and Bob were members of the Maverick Yacht Club. They spent many wonderful times at their houseboat at Conkling Park, Coeur d'Alene Lake. Cynthia learned early in life after her dad had passed away to value each day as it comes. In her own words she shares, "Bob and I squeezed as much into every day as we could - it was a wonderful - magical ride and I am so thankful I was able to share my life with him - my best friend. We were blessed with wonderful friendships to complete our life - but Holy Smokes, let's talk about our kids and grandkids. We were so thrilled they have amazing partners and such amazing kids." Cynthia's love for her family, her grandchildren, and her friends was at the forefront of everything she did. She will be missed by her husband of 40 years, Bob, at their home in Pullman; her daughters Shannon (Todd) Billigmeier of Sprague, WA and Staci (Kelly) Smith of Moses Lake, WA; five beautiful grandchildren, Kelsey, Alana, Carter, Grant and Raegan; by her mother, Beverly Morasch of Spokane and by her two sisters; Karen (David) Unser, Spokane, and Mary Ruth (Bob) Campbell of Twisp, WA. as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a whole host of friends and extended family. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to either Trinity Lutheran Church or the Endicott Cemetery.
