WHIPP, Ben Donald 84, of Springfield passed away Saturday November 30, 2013. He was born March 12, 1929 in Springfield, the son of H. Aubrey and Marguerite K. (Thumb) Whipp. Mr. Whipp attended First Christian Church. He was retired from Navistar, where he worked as a Master Plumber. For many years he kept show birds, and he was a member of Columbus, Indiana, and National Bird Clubs. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Whipp; children, Vicky Kauffman, James (Joyce) Whipp, and Donna (Ross) Leider, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Kauffman, Anna (Ivan) Gonzalez, Amy (Eli) Closson, Kyle Whipp (fiancée Chasity Miller), Kelly Leider (fiancé Jeremy Willman), and Kristi Leider; step grandchildren, Emily Rairden, Joe Callicoat, and Tim Callicoat; great grandchildren, Will Whipp, Lily Closson, Gabe Kauffman, and Keith Adamson; step great grandchildren, Amanda Rairden, Alison Rairden, Houston Johnson, Madison Callicoat, Ariana Callicoat, and Kaitlyn Callicoat; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jane Scott and Patricia Dean; brother, Jack Whipp; and great granddaughter, Emmee Kauffman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday in the chapel at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 1:30pm until service time. Entombment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emmee Kauffman Memorial Fund, 3401 Millikin Rd. Hamilton, OH 45011. Arrangements entrusted to the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME.
