News Death Notice

NORTH, David A. 71, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday November 27, 2012 in his residence. He was born March 2, 1941 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Robert L. and Pauline (Stokes) North. He was a graduate of Springfield High School Class of 1959. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. Dave retired from The Kroger Company after forty years of service and the Springfield City Schools after ten years. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Moose, Union Club, Machinist Club, Buckeye Lodge, VFW Post 1031 and AmVets Post 25. He had a love for traveling and the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and sightseeing with his family. Dave was Elvis Presley's number one fan. He was a fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals. He had a great love and respect for the Native American Nation. Survivors include his wife of thirty years, Vicki (Leffel) North; sons, Robert A. (Kathy) North of Troy; Kenny Gatten and Shawn Gatten both of Springfield; daughter, Melissa Ward of Springfield; grandchildren, Natasha Park and Addison Gatten; great-grandchildren, Jacob Park and Jana Park; the infamous Dirty Dozen and many special friends. Dave was a profound animal lover and is survived by his two cats, Scrubs and Cali. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Orean North and two infant siblings. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Kingscreek Cemetery.
