Dr. Emmett T. SULLIVAN


News Death Notice

SULLIVAN, Dr. Emmett T. 87, of Springfield, died December 28, 2012 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born April 26, 1925 in Butte, Montana to Michael T. and Mary (Murphy) Sullivan. Emmett was a 1943 graduate of Butte Central High School and a 1954 graduate of the St. Louis University Dental School. He began his dental practice in Butte, Montana and then moved to Springfield where he continued his practice for 35 years. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where he served on the bereavement committee, Past President of the Mad River Dental Society, Toastmasters, volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul and the Rainbow Table and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Emmett was best loved for his sense of humor and countless jokes. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joann M. (Hoecker); three children, Susan (Kevin) Sprinkle, Mark (Tina) Sullivan, Springfield, and Elizabeth (Todd) McKelvey, Saline, MI; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Katie) Sprinkle, Elizabeth (Brian) Newman, Zachary Sprinkle, Cory and Michael Sullivan, Joanna and Olivia McKelvey; and a great grandson, Ethan Sprinkle. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Foley and Lorraine Delaney; and two brothers, John and Walt Sullivan. Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday in St. Teresa Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or St. Teresa Catholic Church. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Kencana, Dr. Morman and the staff at Springfield Regional Cancer Center.
