News Death Notice

HASKINS, Larry E. 66, of Springfield, Ohio passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014. He was born March 25, 1948 in Springfield, Ohio the son of Orville and Helen (Wilson) Haskins. A graduate of Tecumseh High School, he attended Clark State College and Wittenberg University earning associate degrees in civil engineering and business management. Larry worked in construction for 50 years, supervising such projects as the Market Place, Elderly United and the renovations of South High School. He was currently employed in the Springfield City School District as the facilities manager. He was the coordinator during the construction of all the districts new schools and the new Springfield High School. Larry's hobbies included fishing, model railroading and working in his vegetable garden. For many years he attended the sporting events that his children participated in. He was their biggest fan and was very proud of their accomplishments. He coached Northwestern S.A.Y. soccer and baseball for many years. Larry was a current member of the North Hampton Lions Club, where he and Kathy made many new dear friends. He enjoyed playing cards with a wonderful group of people, thank you Kaye, Karl and the entire "Friday Night Gang". Larry will be forever loved and remembered by his family. May he rest peacefully now. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy (Donaldson) Haskins; daughter, Kelley Tibbs of Kettering, OH; sons, Greg Haskins of Columbus, OH and Matthew "Moo" Haskins of Springfield, OH; 2 grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Zachary of Kettering, OH; mother, Helen Haskins of Springfield, OH; sisters-in-law, Linda Smith of TN, Janeen (Mike) Tehan of Springfield, OH and Peggy Garland of Springfield, OH; mother-in-law, Norma Swainston of Springfield, OH; father-in-law, Wayne (Pauline) Donaldson of FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 PM Friday, May 30, 2014 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral services will take place at 10 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar and Fraley Funeral Home, especially Larry and Preston Fraley for their care and compassion at this very difficult time. Thank you to the ladies at the Fusion Unit in the Springfield Regional Medical Center, your smiles made a difference.
