Roger A. GROUT

News Death Notice

GROUT, Roger A. 74, passed away peacefully, August 28, 2013, in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born January 20, 1939, to Melvin and Vivian Giffin Grout of Springfield. He will long be remembered for his ability to make people smile and this famous quote, "You can't put a price on a good time!" He lived life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen; son, Mark Grout (Joanie); daughter, Holly Payne (Jeff); all of Springfield; 3 step-children, Mark Smith (Kylena); Shannon Smith (Alonso LaTouche); Corey Smith (Elizabeth McPherson); 2 sisters, Joyce Schwartz, Jean Brown, and brother Marvin (Shirley) Grout; 4 grandchildren: Jason, Roger, Andrea, and Amanda; 4 step-grandchildren: Willa, Jillian, Mia, and Piper; and his dog, Beamer. He was preceded in death by this parents and son, Eddie Grout. He worked most of his life for the family owned company, M.C. Grout, Inc. building concrete forms throughout Ohio. He was a member of Southwest Carpenters Union and the Elks Lodge 51. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, traveling, playing cards, and spending time at his farm. He shared many laughs and good times with his close friends, too numerous to list individually. He will be deeply missed by all whose life he touched. In recognition of Roger's love for animals and in lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Animal Welfare League, 6330 Willowdale Rd.
