Donald Earl FREY Obituary
FREY, Donald Earl 79, of Valdosta, GA, died on December 5, 2018 after suffering a massive stroke on Monday, December 3rd. Born on April 21, 1939, in Dayton, Ohio, a son of the late Rex & Pearl (Anderson) Frey, he graduated from Fairmont High School in Kettering, OH. Don worked for United Airlines from 1962 until he retired in 1994. He was a ticket agent in Dayton, Pittsburgh and Atlanta. In 1977, he transferred to Los Angeles and finished his career as an A&P mechanic. In 1999, he and his wife, Barbara, built a home in Hurricane, Utah. They relocated to Valdosta, GA in 2018 to be near family. In retirement, he enjoyed working on the small aircraft at the Hurricane airport. He also had a great interest in geology and Native American history. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; four daughters, Cindy (Dave) VanAllen of CO, Carol Kouns of TN, Colleen Patterson of OH, and Lisa (Jonathan) Landrum of GA; two step-daughters, JoLisa (Bob) Cook of CA and Jill (W. Stuart) of MS; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Don and his wife, Barbara, created the Bernice Carver Scholarship of Hope to honor the memory of her late aunt, Bernice Carver. The scholarship assists a Whitley County, IN, graduate with their first year of college.
